Addison Holmes is a diamond in the rough, though she’s feeling more like a big lump of coal. Teaching history in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia isn’t exactly the most exciting job. Until she finds her principal dead in the parking lot of the seedy gentleman’s club.

When Addison finds herself out of a job, she turns to her best friend, Kate, who owns the McClean Detective Agency. Addison is a natural at the job. Living in a small town has given her all the skills she needs to spy on other people and pass silent judgment. Sometimes being nosy has its advantages.

When her principal’s murder reveals more Whiskey Bayou secrets than people are comfortable with, the suspect list grows longer than Addison’s arm. Fortunately, the detective in charge seems more than capable of finding the killer and driving her crazy at the same time.

“Fans of Stephanie Plum are going to love Addison Holmes.”

“An entertaining, fun read.”

“This book is hysterical. It’s a true comedy of errors…A perfect summer read… lighthearted and funny”

“I haven’t read a book this funny since the first few Janet Evanovich books… A definite recommendation for everyone.”

PRAISE

Overall, the story is worth reading. It is well written, entertaining and a quick read. I enjoyed the character development of each of the principles. There were several different people involved, but Liliana gives you enough character building for each one that you feel you get to know them.
Romancing the Book

Rarely do I read a book that has me laughing on nearly every page… this is one such book. Hart matches some bestsellers I’ve read with her memorable characters; Addison and Nick set the pages on fire whenever they’re together, and Addison’s mom manages to be charmingly bizarre and yet completely believable. Dialogue is very snappy and snarky. Mystery fans will not be disappointed either, as the ending is both surprising and hints strongly at future sequels. All in all, this is a high-quality read that holds it own against its contemporaries, especially those with a funny side. It’s also a fairly accurate depiction of small town Southern life. I know my town growing up had its share of wacky characters. … By the way, best scene in the book; two words: cucumber blindness. If that doesn’t get your curiosity going, nothing will.

If you want a hilarious mystery in the vein of Janet Evanovich, with the witty dialogue of a Jennifer Crusie novel, this is the book for you. … For sheer number of laughs, I’d consider this a bargain at normal ebook price… at the current price, it’s a steal. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Haggis56 (Reader review from Amazon)

I haven’t read a book this funny since the first few Janet Evanovich books. What a treat to find this on the Pubit! shelves. Addison Holmes is a great character and her zany relatives and coworkers add comic relief from the darkness of the murder plot. A definite recommendation to everyone.
